Meals on Wheels provides a delicious, nutritionally balanced hot meal for homebound individuals. This is available to any homebound individual 60 years of age or older or to persons with a disability who are unable to prepare a meal due to physical or mental limitations, and who have no one to prepare a meal for them. Meals on Wheels are delivered to your front door by our dedicated volunteers and staff. In addition to delicious food, this also provides an opportunity to check in on a homebound person as a safety measure. Donations are requested. There are three parts to each meal delivery.
The first part is a tasty, well balanced meal prepared in our USDA inspected kitchens. Each meal meets a minimum of one third of the daily requirements of the Dietary Reference Intake. This meal can be delivered to the homes of the people who are homebound, unable to prepare meals and have no one to help prepare the meals.
The second part is a wellness check. Our drivers get to know each consumer and are able to tell if anything is out of the ordinary.
The third part is socialization. Our drivers may the only person the consumer sees all day or even all week. The consumers really look forward to the few minutes of conversation with the drivers.
It is often difficult for older people who are ill or have disabilities to get good nutrition. Our menus are varied, appealing, nutritious and updated on a regular basis with new items.
Among those receiving Meals on Wheels:

According to the 2012 National Survey of Older Americans Act Program Participants conducted for the U.S. Administration on Aging.
Do I qualify for meals? You may qualify the Meals on Wheels program if you are:
- Age 60 or older or are disabled
- Primarily homebound or get out with difficulty
- Unable to regularly prepare nutritious meals
- Able to accept meals during the delivery time frame
- Agree to a nutritional assessment
How do I apply? You, a family member, or a professional caregiver may apply by telephone by calling their local Area Agency on Aging. The process only takes a few minutes and the intake person will be asking for information such as name, address, phone number, and health status. All information is kept confidential. Within 9 days of the start of receiving your meals a home delivered meals assessor will visit you in your home to complete an eligibility assessment. Each year an assessor will return for a home visit to re-assess your eligibility.
What kinds of meals are served? Our meals provide 1/3 of the recommended dietary allowance for adults. Nutritious menus are planned and approved by a registered dietician. Meals are low in fat and prepared with no added salt. If needed, meals can be safely re-heated in a microwave or conventional oven without destroying nutrients.
What if I can’t be home during the delivery time? We can’t leave a meal for you if you aren’t home. Part of our mission is to see each of our clients when we deliver the meal. We want to confirm you are safe. We also do not want to risk food borne illness by leaving meals out without knowing when they will be refrigerated or consumed.
