Long Term Care Options Counseling is available to adults over 60 and disabled adults through Maine's Area Agencies on Aging. Counseling sessions happen over the phone or in the office, The Counselor works with the person and caregivers to identify long term care options that:
- Meet the immediate goals and needs of the person
- Is realistic in relation to capacity to pay for services or eligibility for government benefits
- Addresses critical issues like advance directives and legal planning
When appropriate, the client is referred forqualifying assessments such as Goold Medical Assessment and is provided information on the availability of geriatric care management assessments.
